The Journey starts

This training has been devised by the California Schools Library Association and I think is a great concept for us to trial. I am constantly being asked about various items/tools that are currently being used on the web for education purposes. What better way for us all to find out than to go on the journey together.

This program is designed to run over 9 weeks and in those 9 weeks we will learn about 23 new things or tools. In most instances it should only require about 1 – 1.5 h.p.w. in time. At the end we will then get together for a showcase at Kurri so that we can see what others have done and show off what you have done, on the premise that you or I may think of some application of a tool that others didn’t.

Under the Continuing Education part of the introduction there is mention of credit for two Units of study. This does not apply to us unless you wish to pursue this privately. However I would encourage any teaching staff to keep their work as evidence for advanced standing into the eLearning Units of the Diploma of Training and Assessment, at a later date.

If you know of someone else who would like to do this course, they can still start late. This is a self paced program so people can start at anytime and finish as quickly as they like. In fact EDI is offering a prize of 1Kg of chocolate to the first person to complete all tools in the 9 week period. Please note that we are excluding the vacation weeks so in fact you will have 11 weeks to complete. EDI staff please note: You are not eligible for this prize.

So without further ado, let’s get started. The course is located at http://classroomlearning2.blogspot.com/ Have a good read of the Weekly Tips for week #1 before you start.
