This blog is to allow me to publish my findings as I continue on my personal lifelong learning path. Hopefully I will discover lots of exciting things along the way.

Week #3 Thing 7

I have been looking through the Flickr site and I am absolutely amazed at how many tools and web apps have been generated for Flickr. Some of the games would be good for students and there is so much more.

The other technology related thing I want to post about is a couple of sites one called TeacherTube and another called Authorstream.

TeacherTube is the teacher's equivalent of YouTube but at least we can get to it through our DET firewall. There are lots of short tutorials on very interesting stuff. Try searching for Smartboard or ebeam

Also search for commoncraft and have a look at their tutorial on various web tools (try RSS).

The one that I really like however is a video by Alvin Trusty called How to create a great PowerPoint with breaking the Law. It runs for 45 mins but is WORTH it.

The other site called Authorstream is to upload your great PowerPoint that you have created after watching Alvin's video an they are then accessible by everyone on the Internet. They load quickly AND can be coverted into iPod movies and YouTube/TeacherTube movies for students.

Week #3 Thing 6

It has been awhile since my last post (sounds like confession!!!!)
I oposted this in one of the comments but thought I would like to repoduce it here as well.

I found this mashup a couple of years ago but it still fascinates me. This mashup logs every blog that is posted in the World and then places it on the map. It also shows the light and dark regions of the Earth. Way cool right! Now go and have a look at the link at the top called Make Your Own with Worldkit, then have a look at some of the examples people have already made. Towards the bottom, I like the Earthquake sample (way down the bottom)

The link is http://www.brainoff.com/geoblog/ and it is called the World as Blog.

Week #3 Thing 3, 4 & 5

Well it has been a very busy week and I have struggled to get my things done this time around. I had a look at Flickr and then placed my images on the map tool supplied. I have not had a look at the mashup yets but I have seen some others and they are a great concept I think.

I will post about mashups shortly.

Everyone has started registering their blogs and they are now appearing in the blogroll on this blog so that part is getting very exciting.

Cya soon.
